AIR FILTER and SNORKEL |

By experience,
filtration problems often generate engine breakdowns.
Origin air
filter is not designed for an intensive use in Africa and must
be transformed and replaced by a bigger one better adapted.
Upon our tubular
chassis, it is integrated at the engine deck and the access to the
filter is done by inside (see bottom photo). Ducts are large-
diameter (120 mm) in order to increase air flow through turbo.

Snorkel is a
quasi-essential accessory to catch high air to avoid accumulation of
dust, sand and "fech-fech" in air filter. It also enables fords
clearing with high-speed without any risk to asborb water in the
engine.
Some models
exist but you can construct one custom-built in order to satisfy
rules constraints for example (sooner on our T1).
On our T2 Pajero,
air filter size leaded us to develop a specific box which takes
however the origin tape-filter. Several openings allow side or
snorkel aspiration through the engine bonnet.
